IRISH DECISIONS FOR HAITI HEROES

Thursday, 14th January 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Irish software company Decisions for Heroes is offering its service and support staff free of charge to any team responding to the ongoing earthquake in Haiti. Already in use by British and Canadian international response teams in the 2009 Indonesian earthquake, the software helps rescue teams to optimise their next rescue, ensure safer rescue volunteers, and analyse historic records to find patterns and trends in major incidents.

DUBLIN, IRELAND (15th January 2010) - The country of Haiti has just experienced an earthquake with a severe catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake. The International Red Cross has stated that as many as 3 million people have been affected by the quake with as many as 100,000 deaths estimated within the first 24 hours. Irish software firm Decisions For Heroes is offering their life saving web-based rescue team management tool free to all teams responding for the duration of their mission.

Over 40 countries have now committed to send specialist teams or financial aid to the region. Decisions For Heroes helps rescue teams record and analyse their rescue operations and training. Based in Dublin, the Irish company behind the service are offering this software free to any team going to Haiti in an effort to help that team record their data and provide up to date analysis for the rescue services on-scene. Along with the software comes any free support and consultancy that the teams need to get their systems up and running. As Decisions For Heroes is a company operated by rescue responders, they understand that these teams will need all the help they can get in dealing with a major humanitarian incident.

Easy-to-generate statistics can be used to observe patterns and reduce further incidents in aftershocks in Haiti. With integrated mapping, response teams can generate heat maps of their incident areas and compare them to their training locations. With this data the team can now approach other organisations with real measurements to show where efforts should be located and public safety awareness focussed.

Decisions For Heroes is available to all rescue teams globally, and teams can get started online at www.decisionsforheroes.com
