"The Decisions For Heroes software allowed my team to analyse rescue mission data very quickly, easily and in great detail. The software was amazingly flexible, D4H are to be commended"
Meet Mark - Managing Director, CHC Helicopters Ireland.
CHC is the largest commercial helicopter company in the world, have been providing SAR services on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard since 2001, deploying a fleet of Sikorsky aircraft from four strategic bases around the country - at Sligo, Dublin, Waterford and Shannon. A new generation of Sikorsky S92A Search & Rescue helicopters will be flown from 2012.
Decisions For Heroes operational analysis software was used by CHC during its successful €500 million bid to provide helicopter rescue for Ireland. Each CHC aircraft carries paramedics who provide life-saving interventions on their casualties and they were able to analyse SAR missions, capturing key patterns and trends.
The fleet's area of cover encompasses the Irish Sea and the busy waters off the south coast, and stretches 200 miles into the Atlantic. It also features hazardous clifftop coastlines, numerous beaches and mountain areas.

"Decisions just makes it simple. Be it for the incident commander or training officer. You know the assets you have to hand and resources you will need, and how you can deploy them effectively. Job done, simple!"
Meet Vince, an Officer in Charge - Ireland.
Vince is a busy man, dividing his time between the Cork City Fire Brigade and the Crosshaven Coast Guard. He has limited time for paperwork but still needs to know his team's status at all times. Every Monday, to help make better decisions, Vince has configured Decisions For Heroes to send him an automated weekly briefing email containing a report of every team member's activity and scheduled training plans.
This week, the report outlines the 2 incidents the team attended at the weekend and alerts him that 5 members are off-call for 48 hours from Tuesday. Decisions has calculated they will be short a boat coxswain for training on Wednesday and prompts Vince to confirm extra cover, targeting only qualified coxswains on-call this week using the integrated email.
Before the Wednesday exercise, Vince signs-in to Decisions and runs his regular report on team attendance hours, getting a break-down of members skills requiring attention.

"This software is the most valuable tool my Hazmat team utilizes. This was the best money we've ever spent. The program does it all."
Meet Michael, Firefighter/EMT-P/Hazardous Materials Specialist
The Western Wayne County Hazardous Materials Response Team was formed in 1987, and currently has 45 members that come from Mutual Aid Associations fire department that are located within the Detroit metropolitan area. The team is also responsible for incidents at the nation's 11th busiest airport, Detroit-Wayne County Airport (DTW) which handles 40 million passengers and 360 million pounds of cargo each year.
Decisions For Heroes (D4H) software is the most valuable tool my Hazmat team utilizes. As soon as you log-in, the Dashboard gives you a snapshot of the organization's status, from members on and off call, to upcoming training events, to past events.
The program answers every imaginable question you might have about your department, from "Where's a particular piece of equipment located?" to "What's its maintenance status and history?" and "Who's qualified to wear an SCBA mask?" The program can answer these and many other questions with a few clicks of a mouse.
The most valuable part of this software is its ability to centralize information in one location to manage your organization. Regardless of whether you're a Hazardous Materials Team, EMS provider, Urban Search and Rescue Team, or a Fire Department, It's in there for you.

"We have spent thousands of dollars in this venture. Then along comes Decisions for Heroes and it is perfect."

"D4H is ideal for ensuring we know what team members are available."
Meet Paul, a Deputy Station Officer - England.
Bay Search & Rescue provide support, dedicated equipment, specialist Hagglund BV206 all terrain amphibious vehicles and trained personnel on and around the very unique Morecambe Bay and South Lake District Area in the UK. Paul, their Deputy Station Officer, talks about Decisions For Heroes.
"Within the first week of using Decisions For Heroes we had a call from the RAF wanting details and locations of previous incidents for their records. The fact that we could almost instantly send a detailed analysis and breakdown of these, with reports for each and location maps of our local hotspots was fantastic."
"At the recent Floods in Cumbria we logged incidents into D4H as we went along, which generated our incident report, which was printed at the click of a button - brilliant. I can safely say no one joins an SAR team to do paperwork. D4H makes the paperwork we have to do easy and the built in maps, grid refs, casualty reports etc provide all the report information anyone may ever need from us."

"I really couldn't do it justice by trying to tell you all about it. It's nice to be dealing with a person rather than faceless customer support."
Meet Daryl, a callout co-ordinator - England.
It's a cold, wet night and Daryl has just been called by the Thames Valley Police. A 15 year old male has been reported missing, one of the 1.8 million people that the Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs serve. Daryl immediately sends an SMS to Decisions For Heroes which automatically distributes it to the mobile phones of the thirty dog handlers on-call this particular night.
*INCIDENT 22:34* MISSING TEENAGER, MEET AT POLICE STATION.
Within seconds, twenty-two members have replied with their estimated travel time in minutes
'ETA 35'... 'ETA 12'... 'ETA 42'...
Decisions collects the responses and sends Daryl a report back by SMS with the expected attendance numbers and estimated arrival times. As Decisions has built up profiles of each member, the report also alerts Daryl that the response was low on members holding 'air-scent' qualifications. Daryl arrives on-scene knowing he'll have to bring his own dog and be careful with resources on this call-out.
"This app is amazing! It was developed by rescue volunteers, so they know exactly what is needed."
Meet Brian, a training officer - United States.
Brian uses Decisions For Heroes to isolate and analyse gaps in specific skills used on incidents by his team. He likes to see incidents plotted against exercises on a heatmap to check they are covering the right terrain types and response areas during training.
Brian carefully watches the qualifications section and last week was notified that the six of the team's first aid certificates were about to expire. By using the off-call calendar, he was able to schedule a refresher course for a weekend when all of the attendees were marked as available.
