D4H at ICE-SAR 2010, Iceland.

The D4H team continued on tour, this time to ICE-SAR in Iceland. This was a fantastic conference with a very international feel to it. Robin was a guest speaker at the event with a large and enthusiastic audience that had lots of questions for him afterwards. He was talk was titled "Save more lives with web-based SAR analytics".

We also had a stand at the trade show where we got to meet lots of people over the course of the event. We even got to meet members of teams that are already on board with us. One of these was Marcel from Pacific Northwest SAR in the US. He's pictured below with Donnchadh at the D4H stand. It's great to meet people in person finally!

Before the conference began we took a couple of days off to take part in a pre-conference course on the use of Super Jeeps in SAR focusing on off-road use and operations on the glaciers including crevasse rescue. They even let us drive the Super Jeeps off road! This was a fantastic experience!

After the conference we visited another ICE-SAR team base. They showed us around their big selection of vehicles and equipment which was very impressive. They then took us out for a spin on their larger boat to see Rekjayvik from the water.

The next ICE-SAR conference is in 2012 and we would HIGHLY recommend that you try and be there and make sure to try and get a place on one of the pre-conference courses!

Next and final stop on the D4H team tour 2010 is the Emergency Services Show in the UK on the 24 and 25 November. Hopefully we'll see you there and you can check out our Movember Mo's!
